The Bear Inn, Alderwasley — historic Grade II listed pub
Business — Hospitality

The Bear Inn, Alderwasley

Parts of this remarkable Derbyshire building date back to 1528. The Olde Brown Bear Inn has been providing refreshments to travellers since 1735 — and today it needed 21st-century connectivity to match its timeless hospitality.

The Challenge: Distribute reliable business broadband throughout a newly-renovated pub, guest accommodation, and on-site holiday cottages, all within a Grade II Listed building where discretion was paramount.

W3Z completed a three-day installation, with all equipment sympathetically disguised against the historic fabric of the listed building. The result: a 200Mbps synchronous service distributed throughout the inn, providing a fast and reliable connection for every room, all staff, and guests staying in the two holiday cottages.

Residential — Swanwick

Mr Munro, Swanwick

Mr Munro signed up with W3Z in 2015 after growing tired of unreliable Sky broadband and the frustration of poor customer service. He describes W3Z as “a breath of fresh air” — yes, more expensive than the cheapest options, but absolutely worth paying for.

With W3Z, Mr Munro gets rock-steady fast broadband and no call centres to navigate. When he does need support, he speaks to a local person who genuinely understands the technical details of his connection.

What impressed him most was W3Z’s proactive approach: W3Z monitors every customer’s connection and, when Mr Munro’s line wasn’t performing as stably as it should be, W3Z contacted him — before he’d even noticed. The issue was identified and resolved the same day.

“Excellent local customer service for a fast and reliable broadband connection. I regularly recommend W3Z to friends and acquaintances.”

W3Z proactively monitors connections and contacted me when mine wasn’t as stable as it should be — sorted the same day.

Morclean, Matlock — home office leased line installation
Home Office — Leased Line

Morclean, Matlock

Mr Morley and his business partner were working from home but struggling with poor broadband speeds. Sending and receiving work documents was taking hours — an unacceptable situation for a busy professional business.

W3Z visited, assessed the site, and offered a wireless Leased Line with symmetric 50Mbps unlimited data. The service was installed the following week. Speed tests immediately confirmed 51Mbps both upload and download. Document transfers that previously took hours were now completed in seconds.

Mindful of the property’s appearance, the installation dish was painted to blend seamlessly with the chimney brickwork — making it practically invisible from the street.

Business — Leisure & Tourism

Matlock Farm Park

Matlock Farm Park is a long-term W3Z business broadband customer. As the park grew, the management contacted W3Z to review their connectivity requirements for new telephone systems, security devices, POS till points, and an expanding visitor operation.

W3Z assessed the site and offered a symmetric 50Mbps Leased Line with full distribution around the park, covering both employees and guests throughout the site.

The upgrade unlocked the park’s growth potential — enabling the addition of new meeting spaces and kiosks, the ability to host larger events, and confidence that the network will scale alongside the business for years to come.
