Routers & WiFi Routers
These external devices allow for several
computers (PC or MAC) to connect to each other via cables
or wirelessly and they distribute the data to the right
computer, usually in larger networks.
They also allow access to the internet
and all computers connected to the router can gain access
to the internet through it if they are allowed by the
Network Administrator.
These devices usually include built in
security features (depending on which model you choose),
monitor and restrict access as appropriate and can include
a firewall which prevents your computer sending and
receiving data from unauthorised programs, web sites
or emails.
